Max J. Hamrick was first elected as Town Commissioner in 1969. He served as Commissioner until 1992 when he was appointed to serve out the unexpired term of Mayor Buddy McDaniel who died in office. In 1993 he was elected Mayor and has continued to serve as Mayor since. He is a 1962 graduate of Crest High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from NC State University in 1966.
Mayor Hamrick is a commercial farmer and owner of Hamrick Brothers Inc. He has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Gardner-Webb University, a member of the Chamber Board of Directors, and a member of the Board of Directors of First National Bank.
He is married to the former Jane Biggerstaff and has one daughter, Laura. He is a member of the Boiling Springs Baptist Church and serves as Chairman of the Deacons.
